Here at South 57 Traffic Management we put the safety of our teams at the top of our priorities.

Occasionally, people working on the highways must deal with angry and frustrated road users, which can potentially escalate into very tense and dangerous situations. It is in moments like these that the safety and well-being of our team members become paramount. Nothing is more important to us than our team’s safety and security. To support that, all South 57 Traffic Management team members are allocated a body camera as part of our standard safety protocols.

Studies and trials have extensively shown that the presence of body-worn cameras can serve multiple essential functions. They can deter individuals from engaging in aggressive acts, thereby reducing the likelihood of conflict escalating into something more severe. Additionally, these cameras have been proven to de-escalate potentially violent situations simply by being visible.

Moreover, should an incident occur, body-worn cameras provide valuable and irrefutable evidence that can be crucial in the aftermath for investigations and accountability. Therefore, equipping our team members with body cams was a clear and logical decision—it’s a no-brainer when it comes to ensuring their safety and peace of mind while they are performing their duties.
